Free webspace for local groups

filipo's picture

Does your local group have a webpage? If not, would you like one? I'll provide the space. Free.

If your local group has somebody who can create and administer a webpage, but needs hosting, we can set up some space at grupoj.org.

We can set up a path with your club name or abbreviation. If your group is named, for example, the "West Waxahachie Esperanto Club", we could have the webspace be www.grupoj.org/WWEC, or something similar. I can give you an admin account for that path.

The webspace is hosted by a Microsoft Windows server, and supports Windows kinds of thingies, such as FrontPage and DotNet. The hosting is located at 1and1.com.

"Okazas Nenio"

filipo's picture

Successful class in NC

filipo's picture

Congratulations to Don Houpe, who has been teaching Esperanto in North Carolina. One of the pleasures of the ELNA presidency is that I get to sign certificates for successful completion of AAIE exams. Unfortunatly there are normally not a lot of these to sign. However this morning I signed 9 of them as a result of Don's Esperanto class. All of the certificates were for passing the elementary level test. Three of the certificates were marked "with distinction."

The AAIE exams, provided by the U.S. Testing Service in Santa Barbara, California, are very useful tools for marking milestones of progress. They are useful for both classes and private study. The AAIE exams give confidence to beginners that they have made progress and achieved success at a defined level. They are worthy goals to work toward.

A new Esperanto Class in Tahlequah

filipo's picture

A new short trimester course in Esperanto started Monday, the 20th of March, 2006, at Tahlequah Junior High School, Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Beth Magallón, a language teacher, has 31 students in her new Esperanto class.

Beth uses a variety of teaching techniques, including the video "Pasporto al la Tuta Mondo" that is available from the ELNA bookservice.

4 years ago, Beth began teaching a course called "Exploring Languages" in addition to her normal Spanish classes. The Exploring Languages course samples many diverse languages from all over the world. One chapter in the book is on Esperanto, which she had never heard of. Beth asked herself, "How can I be a language teacher and never have heard of this language?" After some searching and making some inquires, she received a phone call from Kent Jones. Kent gave her materials, telephoned her on several occasions from his home in Chicago, gave her support, and convinced her to go to NASK for three weeks of intense study in Vermont in the summer.

Al Atlanto

filipo's picture
