Competitions are for horses, not artists.

In the November 2010 issue of UEA’s Esperanto magazine, there is (yet another) complaint on the part of admin about the poor quality of the pieces submitted for the literary contests:

I have always felt uneasy with the concept, but have kept silent for fear of seeming a stick-in-the-mud, or a wet blanket.
