Nord-Okcidenta Regiona Esperanto-Konferenco okazos post du semajnoj, 10-12 oktobro, en Eastsound, Vaŝingtonio. La ĉefhotelo estos Outlook Inn. Pro sanproblemo flanke de la ĉeforganizanto (ROS' Haruo) la planado kaj reklamado malbone progresis ĝis nun, tamen esperantistoj el Seatlo kaj Viktorio, kaj espereble aliaj regionaj lokoj, ĉeestos kaj ĝuos la babiladon; ĉiuj estos bonvenegaj, eĉ krokodiloj kaj fremduloj ;-).

La programo restas konstruata, sed enhavos interalie vizitoj al muzeoj, piedgrimpa ekskurso al/sur Monto Kelonidorso (Turtleback Mountain) gvide de Arlyn Kerr, kaj publika prezento de la nun elektronikigita biografio "Shamrocks on the Tanana" verkita pri Richard Geoghegan—"la unua anglalingva esperantisto", tradukinto de la Unua Libro en la anglan, kunfondinto de Seatla Esperanto-Societo, kaj iama loĝanto de Eastsound—de David Richardson, mem loĝanto de Eastsound. Pavlina Ros' prilaboras prezentaĵon pri "Kudrado por Krokodiloj", laŭ ŝi. Kaj ni premios la plej bonan tradukon de kanto el la muzikalo "Suda Pacifiko".

Se vi volas partopreni, do nepre venu! Krom Outlook Inn diversaj loĝeblecoj de tendejoj ĝis luksego troviĝas en la insulo. Se vi mendas ĉambron ĉe Outlook Inn, bv. mencii, ke vi estas ano de la grupo Esperanta. La insulo atingeblas per pramŝipo (vidu ligojn sube). La kotizo de NOREK estas $20 (usonajn aŭ kanadajn), pagebla al Haruo Ros' aŭ Wally DuTemple, kaj oni kunportu 20 dolarojn ankaŭ por la bankedo, kiu estos neformala. Se vi volas prezenti ion programerecan, sciigu Haruon aŭ Wally... Ni esperas vidi vin tie!

NOREK (the Northwest Regional Esperanto Conference) will take place two weeks from now, October 10-12, in Eastsound, Washington. The convention hotel will be the Outlook Inn. Owing to health problems on the part of the main organizer (Ros' Haruo) the planning and advertising have not progressed adequately to date, yet Esperantists from at least Seattle and Victoria, and hopefully other parts of the region, will be there to enjoy the kaffeeklatscherei; all are welcome, even non-Esperanto-speakers and visitors from abroad. The program is still under construction, but will include inter alia visits to museums, a hiking expedition to/on Turtleback Mountain led by Arlyn Kerr, and a public presentation of the now RTF'ed biography Shamrocks on the Tanana written about Richard Geoghegan—"the first anglophone Esperantist", Englisher of Zamenhof's Unua Libro, cofounder of the Seattle Esperanto Society, and onetime resident of Eastsound—by David Richardson, himself a resident of Eastsound. Paula Ross is working on a presentation on "Sewing for Crocodiles", she says. And a prize will be awarded for the best Esperanto translation of a song from the musical South Pacific.

If you want to take part, by all means come! In addition to the Outlook Inn there are a variety of lodging options from campgrounds to luxury suites to be found on the island. If you are reserving a room at the Outlook Inn, please mention that you are with the Esperanto group. The island is reachable by ferry (see links below). The convention fee is $20 (US or Canadian), payable to Haruo Ros' or Wally Du Temple, and you should budget another $20 for the banquet, which will be in formal. If you'd like to make some contribution to the program, let Haruo or Wally know... We hope to see you there.
