Call for program participants
We want to start recruiting program participants for this year's Landa Kongreso (July 21-24, 2006 in Manhattan). If you have an idea for a talk, lecture, lesson, skit, or performance you want to present during the convention, a theme for a discussion roundtable you'll volunteer to moderate, or a game you can teach people to play and lead a few rounds of, let us know. We especially need entertainment for Saturday evening (after the banquet and auction) and Sunday evening.
Please contact Thomas Eccardt (teccardt (at) hotmail (dot) com), the convention program director, if you are intending to come to the convention and would like to present something.
So far we have talks on Esperanto's predecessor Volapük, Zamenhof's 1894 proposed reform of Esperanto, the playful constructed language Toki Pona, wikis and the Esperanto Wikipedia. Robert Read has volunteered to organize a slam poetry competition, as was such a popular part of last year's Pan-Texan Convention. There will be an ecumenical (Christian) worship service, probably a Homaranismo service, and possibly others if someone volunteers to organize them. There will also be a Bible study meeting in Esperanto. (Note that presenters of program items are not bound by ELNA's statute of political and religious neutrality, and may not represent the viewpoint of ELNA.)
If you contact us right away, your program item can be mentioned in the information flyer that will be mailed out in a week or two (it needs to be finalized for layout and printing as soon as possible).
Please contact Robert Read (read (at) robertlread (dot) net) if you want to participate in the slam poetry competition or would like information about it.
