Aggressor From the 1950s through the 1970s, Esperanto was used by the US Army for war games, as the language of the "Maneuver Enemy", also known as the "Aggressor". The goal was an added touch of realism, with the enemy speaking a "foreign" language. Spanish was the original candidate for Aggressor's national language, but it was soon superseded by Esperanto: The Maneuver Enemy.

The Aggressor Force
Several years ago I wrote a letter to what was then called The Retired Officer Magazine requesting info from former members of the Aggressor Force.
I received several responses and forwarded the info to William Harmon for follow up.
The man with the most info decided not to participate so nothing more was done.
The army field manual is available for sale on eBay on CD and I have purchased a copy.
When I was a child in the fifties there was a famous TV program "I've Got A Secret."
On one show two men in strange uniforms speaking a foreign language appeared.
Their secret was that they were members of The Aggressor Force and the language they were speaking was Esperanto.
IIRC, The Aggressor Force was based at Ft Riley in Manhattan KS.

Same kiel en la filmo Inkubuso, oni bezonis *fremdan* lingvon, kaj kompreneble Esperanto estis la plej facila kaj, kiel ni cxiuj scias bone, ne apartenas al iujn-ajn landon. Mi vidas en "The Maneuver Enemy" tian cirklan-triangulan formon:

La lingvo de la verkanto de tio sonas kvazaux estis verkata laux Esperantisto. Cxu la Usona militaro havas multajn Esperantistojn? Cxu la verkisto konata estas? Cxu iu ajn konas se la militaro konsideras plu ian ajn uzadon por Esperanto?
Kie estas cxi tiuj Esperantistoj?
