Trovu la ringon perditan
Find The Lost Ring was an alternate reality game sponsored by McDonald's as part of their marketing for the 2008 Olympic Games. It ran for six months, ending in August 2008. The story began with Ariadne waking up in a corn maze outside Johannesburg with amnesia and a strange tattoo on her arm reading "Trovu la ringon perditan." She wants to know what it means.
We know what it means. It means "find the lost ring."
We know what it means because we speak the International Language Esperanto.
Ariadne was one of 6 people from all over the world who needed to communicate with each other to solve a mystery. That's just what Esperanto was created for! As part of their research, they decoded a secret codex with 27 chapters hidden around the world, written in Esperanto. In one chapter it reads:
We chose the language Esperanto for this text because of the difficulties we had communicating with each other.
You can learn to speak it too!
We'll send you more information about learning and using Esperanto, including the first lesson of our free ten-lesson introductory language course, if you fill out this brief form. If possible, please provide both an e-mail address and a street address. If you are outside the United States, or would prefer an electronic version of the course, you can sign up for an e-mail version here.
What else do we know?
- How to learn a real language four times faster
- How to travel and stay for free, all over the world
- How to keep our minds sharp
- How to help protect linguistic rights
