The following are messages I received from Stephen Karnik, of the Bahá'ís of Teaneck. I will be attending, as well as my wife, who doesn't speak Esperanto, but we're hoping that other Esperanto-speakers will be there also.

On behalf of the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Teaneck, I would like to extend an invitation to yourself and your fellow Esperantists to join with the Bahá'í community at the 96th annual commemoration of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s visit to the West. Given the historic and philosophical connections between the Bahá'í community and the local and global proponents of Esperanto, we would be pleased to have you join with us for the picnic and program. On Saturday June 28, 2008 members
of the Bahá'í Faith will host a picnic to
commemorate the 96th anniversary of
‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s visit to Teaneck, NJ.
On June 29, 1912 ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, son of the
Prophet Founder of the Bahá’í Faith, who
was traveling throughout America after
forty years of exile and imprisonment in
Palestine for his religious beliefs, invited
the Bahá’ís of New York and its environs to
a feast to express his gratitude for all they
had done on his behalf during his visit to
the West. Each year Bahá’ís gather on the
last Saturday of June to commemorate this
day.
The Souvenir Picnic is open to the general
public. Bahá’í books and barbecued food
will be available to purchase, or you can
bring your own picnic lunch.
